LIBERTY-BELLE KENNELS + MARVELOUS MANNERED K9S OF TEXAS
Two Businesses. One Shared Heart.
And It All Started With a Puppy Named Bo.
Sometimes the best partnerships begin in the most unexpected ways.
Laura and Lisa met at a grooming salon where Laura was a customer and Lisa had recently joined the grooming team.
One day, Laura walked in with Bo, the only puppy from the first litter of her beloved Goldendoodle and service dog, Brandy.
Bo hadn't found his forever home yet, and Laura mentioned that she was considering having him neutered.
Lisa immediately responded:
“Don’t get that dog neutered. I want that dog!”
And just like that, Bo found his person.
Today, Brandy is Laura's service dog and the original face of MMK9. Her son, Bo, became Lisa's service dog.
A mother and son brought us together. The dogs started the friendship, and everything else grew from there.
After attending a dog show together, Laura and Lisa discovered their shared values, integrity, and commitment to animals.
They decided to remain independently owned businesses while supporting one another and serving many of the same families.

Meet Lisa Steele
A Lifetime With Animals. A Heart for the Dogs Who Need Her Most.
Lisa grew up surrounded by animals on her grandparents' farm and learned about dogs through the hunting dogs her father raised and trained.
Her childhood included horses, livestock, lambs, rabbits, and calves.
One of her earliest memories is of Rufus, her father's hunting dog, who followed her everywhere.
As a mischievous little girl, she once bit Rufus’s ear because, as she explained, “He wouldn’t mind!”
Lisa's experience eventually expanded into breeding and showing dogs.
In the early 1990s, she became involved in the AKC show world with Chinese Shar-Peis.
A litter she helped produce in 1993 resulted in five champions, and Lisa earned her first AKC championship with a Shar-Pei named Izzy.
Over the years, she developed experience with numerous breeds, including Shih Tzus and Cane Corsos.
In 2009, Lisa encountered her first Cane Corso and became fascinated with the breed.
She welcomed Libby into her life in 2018. Libby, affectionately called Libby Bell, and another dog named Belle inspired the name Liberty-Belle Kennels.
Lisa spent years studying and raising Cane Corsos before producing her first litter in 2026.
Her commitment to responsible breeding is reflected in a difficult decision: when a champion Cane Corso she hoped to breed was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia, she chose not to breed him.
For Lisa, the health and future of the dogs matter more than producing another litter.
Her grooming career began after she helped a local grooming salon work with a difficult dog.
The salon later offered to teach her grooming, and she discovered that her lifelong animal-handling experience was especially valuable with nervous and sensitive dogs.
Today, Lisa is particularly committed to helping dogs who struggle with grooming, including dogs who have been turned away elsewhere.
She believes that patience, creative handling, and taking extra time can make a tremendous difference.
“It’s not about what I can do. It’s about what the dog needs.”

Meet Laura
A Lifelong Love of Animals. A Purpose That Grew Into Something More.
Laura grew up on an alfalfa farm in Washington State, surrounded by animals.
Her father always made sure the family had a dog, and Laura spent her childhood raising lambs through 4-H and showing them at the county fair.
Her very first year, she had worked so closely with her lamb that she could show it with just one finger beneath its chin.
It stood so calmly that someone jokingly asked whether she'd given it something to make it sleepy!
She hadn't. She had simply spent the time developing a relationship built on patience, trust, and consistency.
Years later, after raising three children and pursuing a career, Laura returned to her lifelong love of dogs.
Her husband loved Golden Retrievers, but they wanted a dog that shed less.
Their search led them to Goldendoodles and eventually to Brandy, followed by a Mini Goldendoodle and a Miniature Schnauzer.
Laura began responsibly breeding puppies.
When advertising her litters, she encountered criticism of breeding in general from people who advocated shelter adoption.
Those conversations prompted her to consider what more she could do to help puppies remain successfully with their families throughout their lives.
She began providing early puppy development and training, along with the option for puppies to stay beyond eight weeks for additional training.
Just as importantly, she began educating and coaching new puppy owners on house-training, routines, boundaries, manners, and communication.
She wanted families to go home with more than a puppy. She wanted them to go home with a plan.
Her passion for training continued to grow, leading her to advanced professional education through Garrett Wing's American Standard Dog Training Academy.
Today, MMK9 works with dogs from all backgrounds through professional dog training, puppy programs, and individualized owner coaching.
“More Adventures. More Memories. More Life Together.”
